How To Win Points You Should Lose | Why Losing Points Is OK | #1 Drill To Never Fear Fast Balls Again

Hair Dye Causes New Problems. We’ll Fix the Original One.

Hair dye works. That’s not the debate. The debate is what it costs you: the box every few weeks, the smell, the roots that give it away, the hairline that starts looking painted instead of real. You fixed the gray and created new problems.

Particle Anti-Gray Serum works differently. It targets the root cause of graying — restoring pigment gradually, naturally, without dye. Hair and beard. Results that look like yours, not like a product. Five seconds a day. Thirty-day money-back guarantee if you don’t see a difference.

Over a million men trust Particle. This is the product that earns that number. Get 20% off and free shipping now with the exclusive promo code BH20.

How To Win Points You Should Lose

Let’s be honest.

You are going to hit bad drops.
You are going to get jammed.
You are going to get pulled out wide.
You are going to find yourself out of position.

That is pickleball.

What separates great players from average players is not avoiding trouble. It is how often they turn defense into offense and find a way back into the point.

Here are 3 simple tactics that will help you win points you should probably lose.

⬆️ Add Some Height, You’ll Be Alright

When you get pulled out wide or find yourself scrambling at the baseline, hit the ball high into the air.

While the ball is traveling, your opponent cannot touch it, giving you valuable time to recover and get back into position.

This is not a panic shot.

It is a strategic shot designed to buy time when you are in trouble.

🎯 Middle Gets You Out of a Fiddle

One of the biggest mistakes players make when pulled out wide is trying to hit an aggressive angle back.

Instead, go to the middle.

The middle takes away angles, reduces risk, and gives you time to recover. It also creates confusion between opponents and often neutralizes the point immediately.

When in doubt, go middle.

🔁 Next Ball Back Mentality

Say it out loud:

“Next ball back.”

When you are on defense, stop worrying about hitting the perfect shot.

Your only goal is getting the next ball back in play.

Too many players try to hit a perfect reset, a perfect passing shot, or a perfect winner when they are already in trouble.

Just make one more ball.

Then another.

Then another.

Many of the points you win on defense happen simply because your opponent gets impatient first.

The Bottom Line

When you find yourself in trouble:

• Add height to buy time
• Go middle to neutralize the point
• Focus on getting the next ball back

Master these three defensive tactics and you will start winning points that most players automatically lose.

👟 Quick Tip Of The Week: Quick Exercise To Never Be Afraid Of Fast Shots Again

🧠 It’s Okay to Lose Points in Pickleball

One of the most powerful lessons pickleball players can learn has nothing to do with dinks, drives, or drops.

It has to do with mindset.

In a graduation speech at Dartmouth University, tennis legend Roger Federer shared a surprising statistic from his career.

Federer won nearly 80% of the matches he played.

Sounds dominant, right?

But despite winning almost 80% of his matches, he only won 54% of the points he played.

Think about that.

One of the greatest tennis players of all time lost 46% of the points he played.

Almost one out of every two points.

His message was simple:

Do not let one lost point affect the next one.

As pickleball players, we often do exactly the opposite.

We miss a serve.

Hit a ball into the net.

Get smashed on.

Miss an easy put away.

And suddenly that one point turns into three or four points because we carry the frustration into future rallies.

Have you ever been winning a game, lost one point, and then found yourself down a few minutes later?

The problem was not the point you lost.

The problem was allowing that point to affect the next one.

The reality is that even great players lose points constantly.

The goal is not perfection.

The goal is responding correctly after mistakes happen.

Former Eagles star cornerback Avonte Maddox put it perfectly:

“It’s all about how short your memory is. It’s about what you do the next play to make up for it. Definitely don’t let it dwell on me.”

That mindset applies perfectly to pickleball.

When you lose a point, quickly evaluate what happened.

Learn from it.

Then move on.

Do not carry frustration into the next rally.

The players who improve the fastest are not the players who never make mistakes.

They are the players who recover from mistakes the quickest.

The Bottom Line

You are going to lose points.

You are going to miss shots.

You are going to make mistakes.

That is part of the game.

What matters is how quickly you move on and focus on the next point.

The shorter your memory, the better your pickleball becomes.
