Pickleball and Tennis Clinics in Lakewood Ranch, FL

Universal Rackets runs public pickleball and tennis clinics in Lakewood Ranch in partnership with Manatee County Sports and Leisure Services. There is no membership and no residency requirement. Anyone in Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Sarasota, Parrish or anywhere in Manatee County can register. Clinics are grouped by level, not just by age, so you are on court with people playing at roughly your standard, and our certified coaches live in Lakewood Ranch and stay on your program all season.

If you are new, the beginner clinic is the one to pick. Balls are provided, loaner paddles and rackets are available, you do not need a partner, and the first class covers the rules, the serve and the basic shots before you play real points. Most people in a beginner group are starting from exactly the same place.

What we run

How the sessions work

Every clinic is a five-week session that meets once a week. Spring Session 1 starts the week of January 6 at Lakewood Ranch Park and the week of January 19 at Premier Sports Campus North. Sessions 2 and 3 follow in February and April, and all three sessions are open for registration now: Session 2 runs February 17 to March 20 at Lakewood Ranch Park (closes February 3) and March 2 to April 11 at Premier (closes February 16); Session 3 runs April 7 to May 8 at the park (closes March 24) and April 20 to May 23 at Premier (closes April 6). There are no classes Easter week, March 28 to April 3.

Registration closes 14 days before each session starts, because the County needs two weeks' notice on the courts. Every class needs at least six players to run. Adult pickleball is capped at eight players (four per court), and tennis and junior pickleball at sixteen, so sign up early for the day and time you want.

Common Questions About Lakewood Ranch Clinics

Where are the Lakewood Ranch pickleball clinics?

At Premier Sports Campus North, 16350 Rangeland Pkwy, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34211, on two courts under the covered pavilion. Tennis and Ready Set Rackets run at Lakewood Ranch Park, 5350 Lakewood Ranch Blvd, Bradenton, FL 34211, on courts 5 and 6.

Are these clinics open to the public?

Yes. These are public programs run with Manatee County Sports and Leisure Services. You do not need to live in a particular community or hold a membership. We also run private programs at The Lake Club, Shoreview and North River Ranch; those are for residents only, and this page is the public option.

How much do pickleball lessons in Lakewood Ranch cost?

Adult pickleball clinics are $230 for a five-week session of 90-minute classes. Junior pickleball is $150 for five one-hour classes. Adult and junior tennis clinics are $150 for five one-hour classes. Ready Set Rackets for ages 1.5 to 5 is $135 for five 30-minute classes, with a Morning (8:30 am) and a Midday (12:00 pm) option on Saturdays.

Do I need my own paddle or racket?

No. Balls are provided and loaner paddles and rackets are available at every class. Wear athletic clothing and court shoes and bring water.

What if my clinic does not fill?

Every clinic needs at least six players to run. If a class has not reached six by the registration close date, it is cancelled and everyone receives a full refund.

What happens if it rains?

Premier Sports Campus North is under a covered pavilion, so rain rarely affects pickleball. At Lakewood Ranch Park, a rained-out tennis class is made up on a date scheduled with the park, and everyone on the roster is emailed as soon as the call is made.

Do you run summer camps in Lakewood Ranch?

Junior pickleball and tennis camps for ages 6 to 14 are planned for June and July 2027, Monday to Thursday mornings. They will be listed on this page once the County confirms the dates. Join the newsletter below to hear first.
